Photos on this website often were taken in the backcountry when an animal or available light presented a unique opportunity.  Or, in the early morning from the railing of a small ship in northern waters.  Each day brings an extraordinary moment, but usually you must be up early, get out of the car or bed, and wait awhile to experience it.  And, shoot a lot - one image will be the best.

Photographs are with Canon digital cameras, an EOS SLR whenever possible and a G-10 while hiking and backpacking.
